Our Approach

At Little Scholars Early Development Center, we’re committed to a progressive approach that encompasses hands-on learning experiences and the most up-to-date teaching methods. Through our daily activities, we help our little scholars plant seeds that will blossom into a lifelong love of learning and a sense of responsibility for the world around them.

Children at Little Scholars EDC gain confidence and develop positive self-esteem as they participate in activities related to:

  • Art
  • Science
  • Math
  • Literacy
  • Social studies
  • Music and movement (including yoga and Zumba)
  • Outdoor play and sense-related activities (including on-site gardening and composting)

Our Curriculum

We use a nationally recognized thematic and cross-curricular approach called Creative Curriculum, which emphasizes problem solving, decision making, and self-help while promoting interpersonal communications.

Implementing a cross-curricular approach essentially means that, rather than simply teaching facts and ideas, we consciously design lesson plans where children can experience and apply many different academic concepts simultaneously. For example, rather than providing an isolated math lesson followed by a separate language arts lesson and so on, we might present a themed lesson that integrates math, science, music, and language arts as part of the same unit. This dynamic interdisciplinary teaching method engages children on a deeper level and contributes to the development of the whole child, which translates into a better ability to adapt and succeed in an ever-changing world.
